I still don't know what a "Zone Visit" is really for, but periodically I guess every "Zone" has one. In the states there are one million witnesses, so it's pretty rare to get invited to a "Zone Visit." But when the zone overseer visits Taiwan, most of us get to go. Today there were about 9 thousand in attendance, in two cities, we got to have the speaker in person, the other city, Tainan, had a video hook-up. His talk was about higher education. It started at about 1pm or so, we had another talk, and a Watchtower study first. The zone overseer's talk was translated from English to Chinese, meaning I got to hear it in my own language. A nice treat.
I'm not sure if today it was hotter here, or back home, I noticed it went over 80 degrees back home. But regardless, it was hot, and the air conditioning didn't work quite right, the audience had a flutter look to it with everyone fanning themselves. Including me.
It seems like I've been to quite a few assemblies in 3 months, 3 in fact. But every time is a treat, to get to see friends from all around the island, the Coppens, the Bradstreets, and all the people I've met since I came here. Hearing about their extravagant life-styles....
But my favorite part about the assembly was why I had I hard time concentrating. At first it was just cute, then it was distracting, and pretty funny. A six month old girl in her mother's lap in the row in front of me stared at me for about a solid hour, through a talk and a half. Eventually her mother turned around at one point to see what her baby was so fixated on, and laughed and smiled at me. I don't remember any blinking either. I tried funny faces, but they had no effect, the stare remained unchanged.

I think I'm going to, or already have, a complex about being different looking over here. It's definitely the first time I've ever had someone's undivided attention for over an hour just by sitting there, or maybe for any reason.
