I don't think it was a heated debate ever, but I remember debating what we should call "Pot Stickers." I always called them "Pot Stickers", but my sister-in-law said she'd never heard of "Pot Stickers" they call them "Chinese Dumplings" she said. But it turns out (Unless I already knew but then forgot) that they are not the same thing. "Pot Stickers" are pan fried, guotie [pan stick] in Chinese, whereas "Chinese dumplings" are boiled, shuijiao [water dumpling]. They are in fact the same thing just cooked differently.
